Queer authors I enjoy! (Oops! All Furries!)

My last post covered stories I love that are queer/by queer authors. Now maybe you saw the last post I wrote and thought, “Aw jeez. Where can I even find authors that write stories like these.” Yeah. I read that in Morty’s voice too. It’s funny. Most of these authors are on social media, or they have their own online stores and websites!

Here are just a few of the wonderful authors I know and love, whether from their works or just from knowing them.

Keep in mind! Some of these writers operate with 18+ topics and their stories may reflect as such!

First off, you can find so many stories by queer furry authors over at the Voice of Dog website. I haven’t had a chance to listen to all of the stories over there, but I can guarantee there are wonderful stories and authors to be found, including some of the authors are members of the queer community.
The readers on the staff are also pretty amazing. Rob Macwolf, Nenekiri Bookwyrm, B.P. Rugger, Solomon Harries, Ta’kom Ironhoof, and Killick are just a few of the authors that also lend their voices to these stories. I have read works by a few of these wonderful authors, and had the opportunity to help edit their works too. (Check out Happy Howlidays to see Nenekiri’s and Rob’s stories.)

In my pride post, I mentioned a publisher that took a chance on my debut work, Phantom Janitor. Thurston Howl (formerly of Thurston Howl Publications, now of Weasel Press and Fenris) has been a huge part of my writing journey. They’re the reason I am a published author, and also responsible for giving me the inspiration to write one of the best scenes I have ever written (See Nightmare at Elmwood College.) Oh! They also helped me become an editor!

Dwale was one of the friends I had made earliest in my time in the FWG. It was a wonderful author, and a good support when I was away at Bob Jones University. It wrote some great work, including A Drop in the Motion, its poetry collection, Face Down in the Leaves, and tons of other short stories for different anthologies. Here is a list of the works its stories are featured in. Miss you, Dwale…

Nighteyes Dayspring was one of my first furry friends I met in person, and the person who encouraged me to go to my first con. (Him and his fiancée are amazing people.) He is the author of Scars of a Golden Dancer, the collections Gnoll Tales and Knotty Works, as well as several short stories in several anthologies. He is also a wonderful DnD player and DM. He also has a poetry anthology releasing soon called Therianthropic Dreams!

Utunu is probably featured the most on my previous, Favorite Queer Reads, post. He’s a wonderful writer, and a great friend (I have played DnD with him.) His writing features such good range, and every story I have read from him has left me feeling a certain type of way. His book, Rafts, and short story “Threads” made me cry for different reasons. While other stories of his left me with a sense of the character’s fear or dread. A lot of his stories are featured on Voice of Dog (which is linked above) and he was a new book coming out soon! (I have already pre-ordered it!)

Ian Keller has written a wide range of books, from fantasy to mystery to horror. Sure, I have shared about the detective anthology he wrote, but did you know he’s also written a whole series featuring a dragon and a dragon hunter? The Dragon Tax is just the first in a whole series (that I need to finish reading!) They also have an adventure epic fantasy series called the “Flower’s Fang” series.

Tempe O’Kun is an author I best know from his Puplift series on Youtube (which I linked in my previous post.) He also has other work, like his western series, Sixes Wild, or his Windfall series. I have read bits of his upcoming novel, Marian and let me tell you, it’s gonna be good.

Packwolf Lupestripe is one of the authors I have worked with that is featured in both of the anthologies (Happy Howlidays and the upcoming Night of the Howling Dead), who is a bit newer to me. I first read her work when she sent 1725 for consideration to Happy Howlidays. Since then I have read three other stories by her and I am really impressed with her work.

Rob MacWolf was mentioned earlier when I brought up Voice of Dog, but he is also an author featured in both of the THP anthologies I have worked on. I genuinely enjoyed both of his stories and I am really excited for people to see the one coming out in Night of the Howling Dead.

Solomon Harries is not only an amazing writer and beta-reader, he’s a good friend. He’s one of the authors that helped me polish off my collection, and continues to help with writing advice and encouragement! (He’s Epithumia’s number one fan!) He’s the author of one of the stories on my favorite list, and has a VN of that story, and he has a sequel story on the way soon.

There are so many other queer writers out there who’s writing I am not one-hundred percent familiar with, but I still think the world of them. Writers like Kayode Lycaon, Archantael PangolinFox, Madison Rye Progress, Alice Dryden (Huskyteer), Jay “Shirou” Coughlan, and Televassi to name a few.

And not to mention the other wonderful authors featured in the anthologies I have edited that are not mention above. (Because I genuinely loved all of them.) I will be updating my list of published works with the full list of featured authors in Night of the Howling Dead closer to when the anthology releases.

Thanks so much for reading! If you know any other queer authors I should read (furry or not) please let me know their names and where I can find their stories. I really need to read more queer writing!
