The call for my next anthology is open, and this one is going to be very gay and very horror! Got your attention yet? Good!

Before I go into any detail on that, I want to share that the long awaited “Night of the Howling Dead” should be releasing by the end of January. I know it has been a long time coming, and I keep saying this but I am so so so so very excited for you all to see the work that I and all the other writers put into this anthology. There are just a few things left.

For those who want to see the original call before going further, here is a link to the Armoured Fox website where the call is.

Furry Current Call for Submissions | Armoured Fox Press

This anthology call is for a Horror/Erotic/Comedic anthology that surrounds the brothers of the fictional fraternity “Rho Iota Phi” (Shout out to @the-finchy-omnibus.neocities.org over on BlueSky for the frat name idea) and the curse that surrounds their house.

No one knows how the curse started. But it’s been on the house since its inception. Horrifying things happen in that house now, and the brothers of Rho Iota Phi find themselves battling against many kinds of horrors just to pass their semesters alive.

If you visit the link to the anthology guidelines, you’ll see some context I gave into the universe. Here’s brief summary of that along with added context.

Rho Iota Phi was started in 1987 by several gay men who just wanted a place where they didn’t have to worry about harrassment/hate for just existing. A sister sorrority house was formed for queer women called Kappa Theta Zeta just a few short months later. Rho Iota Phi and its brothers always seem to be a magnet for trouble and horror, while Kappa Theta Zeta doesn’t directly experience any of it. No one seems to know why the fraternity is cursed, but the Kappa sisters are always attentive and show up to help their brothers.

The frat house was open from 1987 to 2015, meaning that it took twenty-eight years for anything to be done about the students that were dying on campus. In 2019, several of the alumni returned to the house, reshaping it into a tourist stop and memorial to fallen brothers from years past.

The call on Armoured Fox has clear expectations of what you should NOT write about in your stories, so before writing or submitting, go back and read through all of the guidelines. As usual, if you don’t see it on the guidelines and you’re unsure about including it, ASK. Better to find out now than later.

I will however provide more context into the types of things I am looking for in submissions/story ideas.

  • Any genre of horror is welcome in this anthology! When coming up with the idea for the collection, I thought of movies like the Slumber Party Massacre series (both the original trilogy and the remake), Cabin in the Woods, and HeartEyes. So, I would love to see some campy horror stories.
  • Works must be furry in nature! That means stories should include and surround anthropomorphic animal characters.
  • None of these stories should present Homophobia, Biphobia, or Transphobia in a positive light. Queerness manifests itself in different ways. I hope to have stories with characters of different sexualities/gender identities in the spotlight for this anthology.
  • As it says in the call on Armoured Fox’s website, works featuring erotica are encouraged (though not a must-have in order to be accepted.)
  • AI Generated works will not be accepted.

This anthology will be a collaborative effort! There’s a group chat for anyone who is interested in submitting to the anthology, so that we can all discuss ideas and share tips to make the world a bit more solid.

Entry into the chat does not guarantee an acceptance into the anthology.

If you are interested in joining the chat, all you need to do is email me at scribblesmonhagenwriter@outlook.com with the subject Rho Iota Phi. Make sure your email includes your favorite horror movie/show/book, and tell me a little bit about your idea.
