Anyone who knows me, knows that the last post barely put a dent in the number of horror films I have watched. The most surprising thing about it to me, is that I actually found time to watch them all.
But I really like a lot of these movies, and I know there are others out there who may like them too. So with that being said, you know the deal! Here are ten more horror movies and my rankings. Just remember, I am only sharing my opinions and none of my words should be taken as fact.
Most of these movies should be available to watch on the horror streaming app, Shudder.
The Anrgy Black Girl and Her Monster – 8/10
This movie is a modern retelling of the Mary Shelley novel, Frankenstein, that sees a young black woman setting about trying to cure death. This is a very emotional movie with a great cast of characters you can’t help but sympathize with. This movie dives into so many deep themes like grief and loss, and it’s not hard to see that the real villain isn’t a person or reanimated corpse.
Night of the Living Dead – 8.5/10
The original Night of the Living Dead was such a good movie. It’s one of the earliest zombie movies, and it’s directed by George A. Romero. The film is a classic horror watch, and it’s casting of Duane Jones as the hero of the film really adds some good commentary to the film.
Glorious – 9/10
This movie has some of the most interesting marketing ever. Like, go watch the trailer for this Shudder original movie. I’ll wait.
You back yet? Yeah. Seems interesting right? Well, the movie takes all of that and subverts everything! The story fills in every missing detail so beautifully. AND THIS was my introduction to cosmic horror. Can you believe it?
The Cleansing Hour – 9/10
Live theatrical quality exorcisms. What will they think of next? This movie is an intense film, that sees a film crew and their fake priest leader go toe-to-toe with a real demon. This film really kept my interest, and made me pause the film a few times so I could recover from the shock. The less I say here, the better.
Deadstream – 10/10
Found Footage was never something I thought I could be interested in. But last year brought me a few top picks. And Deadstream is currently my favorite. It’s a great take on found footage, and wonderfully utilizes an imperfect character in a disgraced youtuber affected by “Cancel Culture” (more like facing consequences for his actions) and still making you love and root for him. The acting is fantastic in this movie, and the set of the haunted house is also wonderful.
Hell House LLC – 8/10
Those fucking clowns. I hated the fucking clowns. There was so much scary shit in this movie, but it just keeps coming back to the damn clowns. Despite knowing this was a horror movie, I just knew this group of haunted house fixers was destined for disaster, with all of the stupid choices or the obvious bad omens. It was still such an entertaining watch.
Scare Me – 7/10
This movie had such a fun take on horror. It features two authors trapped in a cabin together after the lights go out, and they tell each other scary stories. Sounds like a fun concept, right? Well they both act out the stories to each other. Throw in a fun Chris Redd cameo, and you have a wonderful and silly time, laced with a sense of building dread. And this is a movie that comes from, and stars Dropout.tv’s Josh Ruben so you know it is good.
Superhost – 9/10
This movie follows a youtube couple staying in a cute AirBNB, where the house’s owner is a bit strange and unsettling. This movie is not big, or flashy. But it is very enjoyable. It has a solid cast, a great villain, and some wonderful moments of fear and tension.
Camp Dread – 5/10
Kind of a run of the mill slasher film, this one. Some really likeable characters, some not so much. Some wonderful names in horror are featured and are enjoyable. It’s definitely an interesting concept that is carried out in an okay manner.
Sorority Party Massacre – 5/10
It’s so clunky and cheesy, that it’s kind of good? Enough running gags to keep me watching, and enough twists to keep me invested. Plus, this movie has a great and scary opening scene!
Here were another ten movies and my opinions concerning them! ^-^ This is fun.
