A little over a month ago, I shared a list of four decks that I made for more competitive (and fun) Pokemon play! Three of the decks I used last time were decks that have a good shot at thriving in the meta. However, the meta isn’t always important. Sometimes rogue decks can do well. Or they can just be fun!
Control is becoming a big element in the TCG and it’s not all bad. However, some control decks that people are making and taking to tournaments seem more interested in winning by thinning out their opponents decks instead of actually attacking. I think that is kind of sad.
I am not saying control is a bad thing, not completey. If a deck can take a punch then hit back, that’s a good deck. It’s better than wasting time taking turns against a troll deck.
Ranting aside, here are four decks that I have made mostly for fun (plus an updated version of a previous deck.) Two of these are loosely based on lists used by other players who have taken the decks to tournaments. The other three are experiments.
Lost Box
I talked a bit about this list last time and how it worked, so I won’t go into all that again. There a few subtle differences, with the inclusion of the Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex card from the new set Twilight Masquerade being the biggest. You’ll find that this list still has the same base skeleton and purpose. Fill the lost zone to at least seven cards so you can energize big hitters with your Mirage Gates. This deck goes out of rotation in March, so I am hoping I get good use out of it.

Meowscarada ex (I swear this one is different than the other one!)
Yes! I have two versions of this deck. Because it’s one of my favorites. Why wouldn’t I? This list is actually more meta than the other list that I play, as this one is inspired one of the only lists that has placed at a large tournament. The differences here are mostly with the Bibarel draw engine. Looking to see if this deck list is worth it.

Revavroom ex
This deck was made purely for fun, with my own wicked twist. The gimmick of this deck is that Revavroom has an attack that means he takes 30 less damage during the opponent’s next turn (after each attack.) The thing that adds to this gimmick is that Revavroom ex has an ability that makes it able to equip four tools to it. Two of the tools that I use in this deck (as well as a stadium) offer an addition damage buffer. I have played games where I was able to take up to 120 less damage from my opponents attacks. And Metang’s Metal Maker ability makes it easier to power up the Revavroom ex with the appropriate energy. It’s barely tournament ready, but I like it.

These are some more of my favorite decks that I play! I have more, and I may make more in the future, especially after new changes to the format.
- Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex has the ability “Seasoned Skill” which makes its attack Blood Moon cost one energy less for each prize card your opponent has taken. This makes it a great endgame card. ↩︎
- Radiant Greninja is here for draw support. However, Radiant Heatran is also a fun curveball that can work with Armarouge to buff it’s damage multiplier attack. ↩︎
