MEGAPLEX!

Hey!

I am at Megaplex! Or I am on my way to Megaplex, depending on what time you read this post! That’s right! I have scheduled this post to go up on the day I am attending the convention. (Well, one of them?)

Most of the people who would be reading this post probably already know what Megaplex is. So I won’t go through the explanation of it outside of, it’s Florida’s furry convention! It takes place in the beginning of fall!

My first year at Megaplex was Megaplex 2021. It was the year after Covid had started, and the year before had been canceled due to covid. So, this was during the mask mandate. I give the context because this was at the end of the summer when my father was in the hospital dying of covid. (He came out okay in the end. But in the moment I was in a pretty weird place emotionally.)

I didn’t even really consider the idea of going to the con until my friend Nighteyes suggested that I come to the convention. Because, as I said, I was in such a rough place emotionally. And so, I figured what the hell! I’d go to the con!

That first con is probably the easiest to remember for multiple reasons.

• I got lost before the con even started, and walked around the entire convention center. I was walking for about fifteen minutes when one of the people who worked at the center found me walking in the employee parking lot (AGAIN. I walked around the whole building.) and showed me the right way to go.
• I met my (at the time) DnD DM, Nighteyes! I also got to meet his partner (now fiancée) Rozz! I got to spend a bit of time hanging out with them that year. Both of them were so kind and cool and it was a really good time. (Alsooooo, there’s an inside joke about weenuses now!)
• Before the weenus joke was born though, I got a call from my mother (and both my sisters) where she informed me that my dad was put on a DNR. (Which again! He’s still alive!)
• I bought a really cute beanie!

This was also my first real in-person experience with furries. And it was quite possibly the coolest thing ever! And each year since then has been cool in other way too! The year (2022) after I found people from my town that I didn’t think I’d see. Last year, I baked so many cookies for friends and brough them. I gave five people baked treats. I have had so much fun each year and I am so ready for this year!

This year, things are different! I am going for two days instead of one! I am baking cookies for TEN PEOPLE! Wowie! And I am going to spend sooooo much money (within reason!)

It’s going to take me so long to make delicious cookies for my friends! 😀
