Goals for the year: Halfway Check-up.

At the end of 2024, I made a post about my goals for the year and promised that I would come back and update on my progress with them throughout the year.

Yes, I know that more than half a year has passed. And to that I say, Whoopsie Daisy.

I made some lofty goals for sure, but I think I have done at least a halfway decent job at keeping on track with at least some of them.

So here are the goals I made! Any that have been completed will be marked with a strikethrough and some context added.

  • Finish my first draft of my “Phantom Janitor” rewrite! – I am currently sitting at chapter ten of this rewrite due to a lack of time.
  • Finish the first draft of “Campfire Flames.” – I have been keeping this on the backburner because other projects have been pushed to the forefront.
  • Finish at least five seperate short stories! – I have started three short stories and gotten stuck on at least two of them.
  • Visit Indiana – I went to see my best friend Jordan back in February! It was a wonderful time. And I will be possibly going again soon!
  • Go to TWO Furry conventions! – So, so far this year I have been to two furry meets. The Megaplex picnic and CHOMP. Both were in Orlando, and both are one day events so I do not know if they count. Both were a lot of fun to do! And Megaplex is happening the week this post goes up! I am super excited about that.
  • Learn to make pie crust from scratch – This one has been a longtime goal of mine. Store bought crusts are probably easier, but I want to learn nonetheless!
  • Shave down my To Be Read pile! – I have read one book cover-to-cover this year (for non-editing work purposes) and that was Far Flung by Utunu. I plan to try and read at least two more before the year is up. Obtainable goals.
  • Make more time for games and friends. I have been able to regularly indulge in days where I specifically hang out with friends and go to a LGS. I have also recently started playing Magic: The Gathering as it is a game more of my friends are into. And I actually have been enjoying learning and building decks.
  • Move out of my parents’ house. – This is still a goal, however it’s been moved to the backburner a bit.
  • Go to the gym at least five times a month. – O.O Next goal.
  • Learn to make one new dish a month! – I like cooking, and I know I should do more to expand my palette.
  • Try to write a screenplay – Ah. This was a goal I had… O.O Yeah, this did not work, I got immediately confused by the format.
  • Do More Editing! – I have been very successful with my editing, and I am very happy to have been able to read some of these amazing works.

It’s a bit discouraging that I haven’t come as far as I’d hoped. But I have made steady progress on these goals. And I have even gained some new goals/had them completed.

  • I had a story published in the Armoured Fox Sapphic romance collection “Wild Hearts.” (Check out this anthology if you like queer women in love!) and I also have a story coming out later in the fall, in the anthology I edited “Night of the Howling Dead.”
  • I have had one story accepted in an 18+ anthology (also from Armoured Fox.)
  • I am starting to work toward publishing my anthology, one way or another.
  • I was able to spend time helping my friend Nighteyes with his table at CHOMP back in July.

I hope to come back at the end of the year and cross another goal or two by the end of the year! Stay tuned!
