“It is seventeen twenty days into the month of March and Scribbles the chee has not made a single blog post! For shame! Burn them at the stake!”
~ Some guy in a fancy wig from the seventeenth century, probably.
While that may be the case, I would like to offer the rebuttal of “I’m just a little guy and it was my birthday. You’re really gonna burn a little guy on (or after) their birthday?”
But in all seriousness. This has been an interesting couple of weeks. So read on at your own leisure as I kind of just sum up how things have been for me.
I have been busy with my day job. It’s a fact that isn’t obvious if you’ve taken a peek at my schedule. So most of my shifts have been unscheduled and a bit hectic. It’s taken quite a bit out of me. I am working hard though. Making good hours. Learning new things about my department.
My spare time has been divided between editing for Fenris, my own writing, and Magic The Gathering! I’ve been playing Commander a bit more often, moreso than I have been Pokémon. I’m obviously not perfect at playing Commander, but the base rule of “Reading the card explains the card, Chee” has been so so so very helpful. I actually was able to (with a smidge of guidance) win my first game of commander in my pod! With otters! If that’s not a furry thing, I don’t know what is!
The beginning of the month/last day of last month (February 28th feels like it was still part of this month even though it very much was not) was the official Megaplex Picnic! I had such an amazing time seeing so many wonderful furries and pups out in the Florida weather! There were so many delightful critters, including some friendly faces from cons past! If you haven’t seen the pictures yet, I put them on Bluesky and Instagram. I met a few new people, but my anxiety got to me a little bit toward the middle of the meet. I mean, there were so many cool people there and I get a little nervous around lots of folks.
Obviously, as I mentioned at the start of this post, the day of my birth has come and gone. I am now twenty-eight years old. Yes. Twenty and eight. Two years shy of thirty. It was pretty low key this year. I got a bottle of cologne that compliments my favorite fall scents, some new soaps, a DvD copy of Deadpool, mixed nuts, salami, a box of the new TMNT set, and a pair of sais (like Raphael from the Ninja Turtles has!) Pretty nice set of gifts.
The biggest news so far is that two projects are nearing completion/publication. One is still up in the air, and most of my readers should already know what it is. (Braaaaiiiiins) Just a few more things to sort out with that one! So hopefully, it’ll be ready soon! But the other one! The other one I haven’t actually mentioned in a bit! But if I haven’t already mentioned it, “Tales From A Scaredy Cat” now has a publishing home at Transcendent Fiction Press. The contract has been signed and everything! I am really excited to start on the edits and improvements, and I am even more excited to have the book that much closer to being ready to release.
In other writing news, the Rho Iota Phi anthology is going well! The ideas in there are really fun and good, and my own ideas seem to be taking flight as well. I did have to alter my idea a bit because my Chad story was looking to become a bit bigger than my 12k word limit. (I haven’t even gotten to the first death in the story yet, and the draft is at like 6k.) There are about eight months left for any interested parties to write stories! Please, please, please! If you are interested in joining us for this campy, gay, horror adventure, let me know! There is a whole group chat AND a foundational document to get you in on!
Last official item! Awards season! If you haven’t voted in the Ursas, do so! 😀 And for the FWG folks, Coyotl nominations season is upon us! Make sure you nominate all your favorite works from 2025 whether they be books or stories or collections of stories. Don’t know what to nominate? Look up your favorite furry authors on bluesky! Most, if not all, are currently repping the amazing work they’ve put out this year!
And yeah! That’s all from the chee front this month! Hopefully, I’ll have time to jump back on the post train! I have many things to post about I think! Not Scream 7 though. I will not be watching or talking about Scream 7. (I will, however, link you to an episode of the Dead Meat podcast where James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca talk about the movie and everything surrounding it while also fundraising for MedGlobal.)
